Churchill
Downs
Churchill Downs, located in the southern part of Louisville Kentucky,
is the home of the Kentucky Derby along with Spring and Fall Thoroughbred
Horse Meets and on 6 occasions, the Breeders Cup. As one of the
most famous and recognizable horse tracks in the world, partly due
to the unmistakable Twin Spires that adorn the top of grandstands,
Churchill Downs recently underwent a 121 million dollar renovation
which included an updated clubhouse, 79 brand new luxury suites
and many other track improvements.
Accommodations at the Track
Normal capacity for Churchill Downs is 50,000 people but on Derby
Day, crowds at the track can reach 150,000 and the accommodations
ranges greatly once you are through the front gate.
Churchill Downs’ Millionaires Row, located on the top two
floors, is of course where you will find the celebrities and the

experience with tiered balconies overlooking the finish line, tabled
seating with gourmet food services, full service bar, multiple televisions
and self-service betting.
The “Infield” is opened up to spectators on Derby Day
and is often compared to Mardi Gras because of the all day party
atmosphere. Located inside the oval track, the infield attracts
roughly 80,000 party goers each year looking to have a good time
with old friends and the new ones they are sure make while they
are there. If you are looking for a more civilized experience but
still want the energy and excitement of being in the infield, Churchill
Downs recently introduces the “Infield Club” in 2009
where for a little more money fans will have upgraded amenities.
These amenities include a horseshoe shapes bar, betting machines,
music, shaded seating, upgraded restroom facilities and a Jumbotron
TV so you won’t miss any of the action.
If you are not wealthy and not looking to party, visitors to Churchill
