Louisville

Louisville is the largest city in Kentucky with 1.2 million residents in metro Jefferson County. Located in north central KY on the Ohio River bordering Indiana, Louisville boosts a great deal of fine restaurants, performing art and world class entertainment.

Louisville is not only home to Churchill Down and the Kentucky Derby, it is also home to the Louisville Slugger Museum, Muhammad Ali Center, Frasier International History Museum, the Speed Art Museum and the Louisville Science Center.

If performing arts is more your speed, you will not be disappointed by Louisville’s extensive list of amazing choices at the Kentucky Center, Actors Theatre and the Louisville Palace. The Kentucky Center, located downtown, is home to the Louisville Ballet, Louisville Orchestra, Music Theatre Louisville, Stage One, and the Kentucky Opera, which is the twelfth oldest opera in the United States.

Even without a major league sports team, the residents and visitors of Louisville are not without sporting options. The University of Louisville Basketball and Football teams continuously rank in the top 25 teams nationally while the Louisville Bats, the Class AAA affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, gives fans a great time at the ball park. For the golf fan, Louisville offers many options including Valhalla Golf Club which has hosted PGA Championships and the 2008 Ryder Cup.
